Our Carousel of Chardonnay is a Merry-Go Round of flavours and styles of the same grape but from different regions!
With an emphasis on Burgundy - since that is the home of the best Chardonnays - this case shows the huge variation in styles available.
Our 2 selections from greater Burgundy are similar but still so different.
The wines from Cote Chalonnaise are more similar but the differences are still apparent.
Is the oaked Bourgogne from Bize better than the Salentein Barrel Select?
Hopefully these questions won't keep you up at night and you can just enjoy 6 lovely - but different Chardonnays.
You'll get 1 btl each of these wines
Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Beaune Blanc 2021, Dom Billard Pere et Fils, Burgundy
Saint Veran 'Vieilles Vignes' 2022 Famille Cordier, Burgundy
Salentein Chardonnay Barrel Selection 2021, Mendoza, Argentina
Villa Blanche Chardonnay 2022, Calmel & Joseph, Lanquedoc
Pouilly Fuisse Vielles Vignes 2022, Domaine Frederic Trouillet
Bourgogne 'Les Perrieres' 2018, Domaine Simon Bize, Burgundy, France
So, Bourgogne from Simon Bize and Salentein from Argentina are oaked, Villa Blanche is probably the fruitiest and was voted into the Top Ten Chardonnays of the World, the Pouilly Fuisse from Trouillet is probably my favourite white in that price range, the Beaune from Billard is so pure and well focused, Bourgogne Bize has been farmed organically for ages or a lovely Saint Veran ........ 6 wines ...... all different but all the same grape variety!
