A brilliant wine from a brilliant vintage! And a brilliant price!

Black fruit on the nose and palate, full flavoured while remaining medium bodied in weight. The nose exudes fresh intense black fruit fragrances, in a beautifully fresh manner. Integrated tannins (60% new oak), long black fruit flavours, the finish offers a seductive aromatic finish.

Chateau Lynch Moussas 2016 scores 94 points from Parker/Wine Advocate, 93 points from James Suckling and is less than half the price of it's esteemed sibling Lynch Bages*

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate says
94 Points The 2016 Lynch Moussas is a blend of 17% Merlot an 83% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 48 hectoliters per hectare between 3 and 19 October. Matured in 60% new oak and the remainder one year old, this has a concentrated bouquet that offers tobacco-infused black fruit, briary and then with aeration, veins of pencil lead. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin cloaked in plenty of black fruit, quite spicy for Lynch Moussas with a touch of orange rind developing towards the finish. I appreciate the salinity on the aftertaste here. This is excellent and may well surpass the impressive 2015 last year.

This is NOT Lynch Bages, which has an enviable reputation in Ireland, but it was originally the same vineyard, it's next door and it's less than half the price!

* Originally the same estate, they were split in 1835 (!) and Moussas kept the Chateau! Both Lynch Moussas & Lynch Bages are 5eme Cru Bordeaux wines.

What we find interesting is that James Suckling says 'This is very dense and intense ....' and Jancis Robinson says ' ... obviously less dense and frailer than the Lynch Bages (which she had tasted previously)...' but this Lynch Moussas is half the price of it's esteemed Sibling!
