Tasting can sometimes seem like a chore, but from the first nose of this Old Vine Garnacha, we were so impressed!
The only word to describe our first impression was 'fresh'. From 80 year old vineyards at between 600m & 700m altitude, on 3 metre clay soils with a sandy rock base, it is elegant, fine and fresh.
2019 is a classic vintage and they got the best out of their vineyards here!
It's not heavy - more medium - it's cherry red with ruby rims and it's fresh and intense on the nose (wild red fruits, balsamic, herbs).
On the palate it is agile, fruity and fresh (did I say fresh?), with great complexity.
Aged in 30 & 40 HL vats (big ones!) it retains all it's attitude through to the glass.
And what did the Wine Critics say?
