From the home of Pinot Grigio, comes ..... a great Pinot Grigio!!
Now, there is no need for a Sales Pitch here!
Voted 'Best Pinot Grigio in Italy' last year, it offers a golden yellow colour and then an explosion of green apple, pear, apricot (and banana**) in the mouth. It is fresh, elegant with a layer of crunchy fruit throughout - the texture and layers of fruit stand out. It is so fulfilling with fruit and flavours throughout.

Last night we sliced white peaches (fuzzy blush skin) and ate them with fat, warm slices of a rye-flour sourdough slathered with cold, salty goat's butter and watercress. A day later, tasting this wine, all I could think is: this tastes like last night's supper. It's peachy, simple, a little peppery (watercress), a little creamy (cold butter). The kind of wine that makes you feel deeply contented without making you work for anything.

*Solo Roberto wines are 'designed' to offer super aromatic and fruity wines which give pleasure in the mouth and on the nose, without compromising the freshness and minerality coming from the regional pedo-climatic environment; the result is clean and elegant wines. **Banana - yes, we all hate those Banana flavoured medicines etc but there is just a lovely residual flavour on the finish which suggests banana (but really nice banana). Unlike the Jancis Robinson reviewer (see above) none of us got 'rye-flour sourdough slathered ....' but we all got lots and lots of everything else!
