Trus 2023, Palacios, Ribera del Duero, Spain

An agile and full bodied Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) from 20 year old vines, all above 700 metres altitude.
Deep but bright cherry red colour, aromas of powerful red fruits with touches of spice from the wood aging.
Fresh and full in the mouth with well integrated tannins and that lovely feeling of wanting more!!

A really complicated vintage (sign of things to come?) with record breaking temperatures and a practical drought in the vineyards. Rain at the beginning of September saved the day and a decent harvest ensued. It is a lighter (but not light!) vintage but good aromas and ripe tannins so a shorter maceration required.
Overall a satisfactory vintage, even though the style of the wines varies slightly from the norm.

This vintage has just been released and awaits Vintage scores.
We expect it to impress the critics as per previous vintages - 91 points is the normal!!
