Made from a 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah blend, this stunning Vacqueyras is medium to full bodied, with a beautiful balance of berry fruit and spices. It is rich, lively and elegant all at once with a long creamy textured finish.
Now, a slight word of warning! While it is warm and rewarding, it is quite high in alcohol (15.5%) so find an excuse to share it with family and/or friends.
As you can see, we really like this wine as it is a brilliant example of a quality Rhone wine. While it's winter now (I think I can leave that up all year around) this has great fruit and freshness so is great all year long!
Wine Spectator says
92 Points A polished red, showing heady blackberry, black licorice and singed herbs that glide through, with cracked pepper, warm earth and savory acidity. The tannins are starting to release their grip on the long finish. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2025
When we visited Domaine de la Charbonniere a few years back, it was without doubt the best Vacqueyras we tasted on our journey. Some were dearer, some were cheaper but for the money charged this was way ahead in quality and value.
